Barium sulfate with high luster is a raw barite ore, which is processed through processes such as beneficiation, washing and crushing. Moderate hardness, high brittleness, stable chemical properties, insoluble in water, ethanol and hydrochloric acid, acid and alkali resistant and water resistant.

The main characteristics of high gloss barium sulfate are good dispersion, high whiteness and good leveling. It has excellent light resistance, natural weathering resistance, acid resistance, good chemical inertness and moderate surface energy. It has good compatibility with all pigments, and can replace some expensive raw materials such as precipitated barium sulfate, titanium dioxide, active silica, and reduce costs. It is an environmental protection material that can absorb harmful rays, and has good effect in powder coatings.

Main uses of high gloss barium sulfate:

1. Plastic.

Used in plastics, it has good dispersibility, can enhance the hardness and rigidity of plastics, and maintain the surface luster and brightness of plastics. It is especially suitable for manufacturing high gloss PP and nylon products for household appliances.

2. Paint

In terms of coating, the product can be used together with titanium dioxide in a certain proportion to make titanium dioxide more effective in its coverage performance and reduce the amount of titanium dioxide, which is especially suitable for automotive paint and high-grade exterior wall coatings. At the same time, the anti pulverization performance has also been greatly improved.

3. Powder coating.

When applied to powder coatings, the leveling and light retention of powder coatings can be enhanced. And it has good compatibility with all pigments, can improve the powder coating to achieve the ideal film thickness in the spraying process, improve the powder yield, and reduce the amount of powder coating. It is a product that must be selected for the powder coating grade.

Barium sulfate is used for coatings and paints, and the fineness is generally 325 meshes, 800 meshes and 1250 meshes. In particular, the requirements for coating are relatively fine, and most of them use 1250 for more purposes. Generally, barium sulfate is crushed into 1-8 μ The particle size of m can replace part of titanium dioxide when used in latex paint, and the whiteness and hiding power will not be reduced. This is because, although the crushed barium sulfate is very fine, it is still a agglomeration of medium sized particles, because the crystal size of barium sulfate is 0.2 and 0.8 μ When it is formed, the gap between these agglomerated particles is too small. Therefore, when the film is dry, these tiny air gaps are kept in the form of air, thus increasing the refractive difference between the components.

In some coatings, such as electrostatic spraying, what we need is glossiness. As long as the glossiness can be done well, the effect of the coating will be obvious. Therefore, the requirement of barium sulfate is to improve the glossiness of the paint.

High gloss barium sulfate was used to improve the glossiness of the coating.

Factors affecting the glossiness of the coating:

1. Barium content.

The higher the content of barium, the greater the influence on the gloss. Only barium sulfate with high barium content can have high luster.

2. Whiteness.

Paint products are usually white. Therefore, our paint manufacturers also pay special attention to the requirements of whiteness. Therefore, we require the whiter barium sulfate, the better is the high gloss barium sulfate, and the whiteness is good. The product is particularly white, bright, and shiny, which is the most suitable for our product.

3. Fineness.

Fineness is an external factor. The higher the fineness, the better the leveling property of the paint. Because it is thin, the greater the reflection of light, the better the glossiness.
