How to distinguish between extinction barium sulfate and high gloss barium sulfate

High-gloss barium is a natural ultra-fine barite powder produced by grinding method (average particle size <1um, maximum particle size <15um);

High-gloss barium is generally the name opposite to matt barium in the powder coating industry. In fact, both high-gloss barium and matt barium are natural barium, but the fineness is different.

The appearance of high-gloss barium sulfate is colorless orthorhombic crystal or white amorphous powder, and the relative density is 4.50 (15℃). Melting point 1580 ℃. Almost insoluble in water, ethanol and acid. Soluble in hot concentrated sulfuric acid, easy to agglomerate when dry. At 600 ℃, it can be reduced to barium sulfide with carbon.

High-gloss barium sulfate is produced through a special chemical synthesis process, using special filtering technology and special surface treatment technology, and has the characteristics of high whiteness, no black particles, and good dispersibility. High-gloss barium sulfate is a white powdery substance, non-toxic, odorless, insoluble in water, acid, alkali and organic solvents, only soluble in hot concentrated sulfuric acid, and does not react with any gas. Therefore, it is a product with excellent weather resistance and corrosion resistance.

High gloss barium sulfate application

1. In terms of plastics, it has good dispersibility, can enhance the hardness and rigidity of plastics, maintain the surface gloss and brightness of plastics, and is especially suitable for the manufacture of high-gloss PP and nylon parts for home appliance housings.

2. In terms of powder coatings, it can enhance the leveling and gloss retention of powder coatings, and has good compatibility with all colorants.

High-gloss barium sulfate is a reinforcing filler for rubber, which can be used for acid-resistant rubber products and general products. It can also be used as a surface coating agent, a sizing agent, a weighting agent, and also used in pigments, ceramics, batteries, enamels, paints, coatings, etc.

Matting barium sulfate and high-gloss barium sulfate are widely used in coatings as extender pigments, and play an important role in improving the thickness, wear resistance, water resistance, heat resistance, surface hardness and impact resistance of the coating film. In addition, barium sulfate has high reflectivity in the wavelength range of 300-400μm, which can protect the paint film from light aging, and is an effective and inexpensive white inorganic light stabilizer. The ultra-fine barium sulfate made by special process has many characteristics that other similar products do not have. Its needle-like crystal structure makes it a good flattening agent and can enhance the leveling of the coating. It can be used as a reinforcing agent in self-cleaning coatings; due to the low oil absorption of barium sulfate, it has a high filling amount , so the cost of coatings can be reduced, and it can be used for water-based coatings, primers, intermediate coatings, oil-based coatings, etc. In the current market, the most popular is the barite calcination method of precipitated barium sulfate, which has good whiteness, high content and good hand feel, especially when it is used in coatings, it has a great effect, very obvious effect and low cost , as a high-grade paint filler, more manufacturers began to pay attention to its future use value.
